Shimano 22 Bantam: Strong Versatile Baitcaster with Infinity Drive and MGL III Spool
The new Shimano 22 Bantam redefines the term Strong Versatile in the baitcasting segment. Equipped with the revolutionary Magnum Light Spool III (MGL III), a 150-size spool with a larger diameter (ø35/19mm) and a narrower profile than its predecessor, compatibility with centrifugal brakes has been perfected. To achieve an elegant casting feel reminiscent of the 19 Antares, the line guide has been moved slightly forward. The highly rigid Core Solid Body features the Infinity Drive system for the first time in a low-profile baitcasting reel. This innovation drastically reduces rotational drag and enables a powerful and direct retrieve. This dramatically improves the angler's sensitivity, as changes in the bottom or the water resistance of the bait can be more easily perceived. This powerhouse takes the versatile angler to the next level.
Magnum Light Spool III: Amazing Casting Performance
The newly integrated MGL III spool demonstrates amazing casting performance, allowing you to reach long distances and make precise, shallow casts at will. Despite having the line capacity of a 150-size reel, it achieves an astonishing aspect ratio reminiscent of the 19-gauge Antares. Known for its highly rigid Core Solid Body, which withstands even the toughest fishing pressure, the Bantam, combined with the MGL III spool, delivers unprecedented casting precision and distance. It has evolved into a powerful and technical low-profile model that masters all-round fishing from long-distance to close-range.
Infinity Drive: The new standard for strength and feel
The first-ever integration of the Infinity Drive into a low-profile reel takes versatility to a new level. With this new structure, the spool spindle is no longer supported by the bearing on the spool side, which has high rotational resistance, but by the inside of the pinion gear. This greatly reduces the rotational resistance of the gear section, resulting in a lighter and more direct winding feel while simultaneously increasing strength. The Bantam's exquisite combination of Infinity Drive and highly rigid Core Solid Body takes the Strong Versatile philosophy to a new level.
