There is nothing better than the Ocea Calcutta in the Shimano round profile saltwater line-up. The full metal design is remarkably lightweight and deceptively compact, feeling more like a traditional baitcasting reel in the hand, but that’s where the similarity ends. You will be astounded by how much torque the Calcutta Conquest produces, especially in the PG (Power Gear) models, when worked hard and the synchronised Level Wind system makes fine braid line management simple and fail-safe. The result is smooth, powerful winding of the largest lures, jigs or livebaits when you are targeting hard fighting fish at home, or around the world.
The remarkable cranking performance comes from the ultra rigid HAGANE Body, combined with some of the most advanced gearing Shimano produces, including Micromodule and X-SHIP. In fact there’s so much inside the ‘Conquest’ it’s a miracle the body is so compact and so light. But there’s more to this reel than just its powerful performance. The Level Wind system automatically takes care of line management, which is especially important with fine PE2 and PE3 braid, and because it is synchronised with the spool it makes casting easier and longer. And when you connect with the biggest of angry predators, the large surface area Cross Carbon Drag keeps everything reliably smooth, whilst the Exciting Drag Sound lets you know everything is under control and enhances the experience.
